Using our voice for change can empower ourselves and others to make the world a better place. Yet, raising awareness about the things we care about can also affect our wellbeing. With the state of the world we are in now, it can be a scary place to live in. Even with the uncertainty of our future, it’s important to keep making the world a better place.
Being a part of change can put a lot of strain and fatigue, not only on ourselves but on others as well. However, it’s important to remember to look after ourselves and others to allow us to keep making that change long term.
How to use your voice to change the future;
- Getting others involved can help you get the support you need to make change. It allows you to work with others who share the same passion as you and share the workload with others to help avoid stress and allows for more time for yourself.
- Taking action step by step can help you to be detailed in the work you do but allows you more time to complete each step. This can help avoid burnout and fatigue. It may be a longer process but you can focus on your wellbeing more.
- Listen and engage in conversations about the topic you are advocating for. It can help you with being able to learn more. As well as stories and lived experience to be shared which means you can know if you are going in the right direction.
- Call people out on their misconceptions about a subject. However, make sure that you keep yourself safe whilst calling people out as you don’t want to come to any emotional or physical harm for standing up to what you feel is right.
Not allowing the future to affect your wellbeing is important, no matter how much you want to get your voices heard. Make sure to take breaks as and when you need them to allow yourself time to yourself and to relax. Getting outdoors can help with easing stress when the workload gets too big, as well as being able to calm your mind before getting back to day to day life.
Know that what you are doing to help make the future a better place is making a change, no matter how big or small it is. If you can’t see the change being made straight away, don’t get discouraged and seek out help if you start feeling anxious about the future.
Overall, using your voice to talk about the things you care about is something we all should be encouraged to do. However, make sure to look after yourself when changing the world for the better as the world is a better place with you in it.
