I think that especially in the times we are living in now, it is easy for us to think negatively or pessimistically about the future. And I’m not here to tell you how to think or that this is at all incorrect but I am hoping to introduce you to a possible different way of approaching thoughts regarding the future.

If you were asked the question; ‘what does 2021 look like for you?’ many people considering the events of this year would automatically answer with a negative tone or frame of mind. Although this is entirety valid and understandable considering all of the tragedy we have faced this year. When we do not know what will happen in the future, is there an argument to merely think positively about it just because we can? Yes, we know that COVID-19 will continue into the new year, although we also know that we are on track to find a vaccine and so we can assume positively that we may be able to become immune to the virus in 2021.

The same logic can be applied to most things, that test coming up? If you have studied to the best of your ability, why not assume you’re going to pass? That job interview? You’ll get it!

I have personally used this way of thinking to accomplish a lot on my life, as in many cases with positive thinking comes confidence! This is a little different but I watched a TED talk recently by Amy Cuddy titled ‘Fake it till you make it’ why also addresses how to approach situations with a positive attitude. I would really recommend you watch it here!

After watching that video what I am talking about may make a little more sense if you are slightly confused as to why I am suggesting you think this way. Again, this may not be the right way for you, everyone really is different!
