Everyone always seems to be on the go; people have jobs, school, hobbies and so much more. We don’t always seem to take the time to slow down, to savour every moment and to live in the moment. With our busy lives and trying to get through each day as it comes, it can be hard to put savouring moments at the forefront of our mind.
Being able to savour moments allows us to be present and embrace the moments that mean the most to us. It allows us to enjoy what we are doing at the moment, but it can be easier said than done! Here are some ways to savour every moment from the next year;
Slowing down; We are so used to having everything at our hands straight away, to do things through a phone screen and going from one thing to the next like clockwork. Being able to slow down and be in the present moment allows us to savour each moment.
Reflecting; Savouring moments doesn’t just mean being in the actual moment itself. You can stop every few months and reminisce about the past, even if it’s only reminiscing about the past couple of months. Creating colleges, photo albums, videos and so on can help you reflect and savour the past.
Using all our senses; Totally being in the moment means using all your senses to fully take in our surroundings. It’s looking, hearing, smelling and tasting everything within our surroundings. It allows us to completely enjoy the moment we are in.
Savouring moments allows us to have a happier and more fulfilled life. As well as being able to strengthen the relationships we have with the people around us. It can also allow us to appreciate the smaller things in life and have feelings of happiness for longer.
Overall, savouring every moment can improve our quality of life and can have both positive mental and physical effects on our wellbeing. Even though it can be hard at times to slow down and take moments in, making sure to find time to do so is ever so important. Why not get others involved?
