Getting Exam Ready – Revision Tips

Many people are in the mist of exam season, and it can become quite stressful. Exam stress is something that is natural and knowing how to revise can help reduce some of that. Below are some revision tips to help you out;

Active Recall: Test yourself, for example, cover answers and try to remember!

Mix It Up: Switch between topics to keep your brain active and improve memory!

Prioritise: Focusing on what you find the most difficult can boost your confidence!

Practice: A great way to prepare for exams is to practice like you are in one!

Spaced Revision: Spread revision over days/weeks. Try not to cram!

Teach: Explaining a topic to someone else helps you understand it!

Focus Sessions: Try short 20-30 minutes, then take a break to keep your brain fresh!

Break It Up: Revise small topics at a time – It can be easier for your brain to manage!

Overcoming Exam Stress

Practice: Practice exam situations such as completing past papers within exam conditions e.g. it being timed. Take a look at WJCE where you’ll be able to find past papers.

Calming Strategies: Before exams, use simple calming strategies such as box breathing to help calm with exam stress, anxiety and improve concentration.

Right Amount: The goal isn’t no stress at all- it’s finding the right amount of stress. It’s about understanding what our stress response is to allow us to have the most maximised outcome.

Manageable : Keep stress at a manageable level that is not overwhelming and remind yourself that this feeling is your brain trying to help!!
